  • Pagudpud

Pagudpud is a sunny place and is full of colors! This municipality in the northernmost region of Luzon boasts of white sand and a host of blues when the sun is high, especially during January to March.

You can visit Paoay in the morning, have lunch at Laoag, go to Cape Bojeador and Bangui Wind Farm for the early afternoon, then arrive at Pagudpud at around 4 or 5 pm. After a tiring travel day, go for a splash in Saud Beach in Pagudpud! It is a beach that faces west and a lovely sunset.

Fig. 2. Watch out for the sunset.

Fig. 3. Turquoise to blue waters!

Fig. 4. A dead crab! (what the hello)

Fig. 5. The bay and the beach are alive

Fig. 6. Don’t enjoy too much in the turquoise haline water that you may capture a good /sunset.

Fig. 7. Opportunities for good pictures increase when the crashing of waves gets harder.

    Fig. 8. Salad!

It is good to have yourself booked in a hotel near the southern part of Saud beach to have a good view of the Bangui Wind Farm from a rocky place during sunset.

Fig. 9. The Bangui Wind Farm from Pagudpud during sunset. Lovely.

Fig. 11. Then, enjoy dinner and the night with friends. :)

After a good night’s sleep, walk around the beach early in the morning to discover more. The water is still turquoise blue and the sand will be very bright as the sun nears its noon position. Walk to the same rocky spot at the southernmost tip of Saud Beach to capture the Bangui Wind Farm in bright morning light.

Fig. 12. Local people are doing their fishing early in the morning and add greatly to the life of the photographs.

Fig. 15. We ate these for lunch. No, really. We had seaweeds for lunch. I saw a local person harvesting these early in the morning. I thought I would vomit at first when lunch was served. :)

Fig. 16. These rocks indicate that the sea level used to be higher than it is now with respect to the current elevation of the land. Look closely and

After taking pictures up until 9 am, go to the main beach area to have photographs of people enjoying the beach and playing beach games. Be careful, though, as some people might mistake you for a paparazzi of some sort. Especially if you’re a buddy with a long lens. :)

Move over, Cancun. Pagudpud is one of those beaches that not many know of (yet) and does not look like Puerto Galera (yet). It’s a great place. You can just sit there and relax - and see some dead crabs from time to time

    /

Fig. 30. Wouldn’t it be great if you owned a lot here? :)

LOOK FOR COLORS AND GO LOW

Beaches are bursting with cool colors. Find points of interest or combinations of colors that interest you (just ilke the one below).

These colorful photographs will never fail to give you nostalgia while reviewing them back home. On the side, don’t be afraid to go low - sit, look down, kneel, or lower the camera. Going low gives depth to the photograph. And an occasional dead crab. :)
